The Innovationships program provides competitive financial awards to Bachelor of Innovation students who are ready to advance bold, impactful projects. Students pitch their ideas through short social media videos—building awareness, gaining support, and showcasing the power of innovation at UCCS.

This initiative is open to all Bachelor of Innovation students across campus and supports projects in any discipline.

About the Innovationships Program

Innovationships give Bachelor of Innovation students the resources and support needed to turn ideas into real world innovations!

  • Financial support that reduces the need for part‑time work
  • Hands‑on mentorship from faculty and industry partners
  • Experience in public engagement, storytelling, and impact communication
  • Cross‑disciplinary collaboration aligned with the Bachelor of Innovation model

Each semester, students can apply for a $5,000 Innovationship award to support the development of their innovation project.

To apply, students will:

  • Submit a 3–5-minute video introducing their project and intended impact
  • Post the video on social media and track engagement (likes, shares, comments)
  • Upload their video link(s) through the Innovationships application portal
  • Demonstrate financial need through the standard UCCS aid process

Recipients commit to:

  • Spending ~50 hours/semester advancing their project
  • Maintaining a 3.0 GPA
  • Working with an approved mentor
  • Posting an annual multimedia progress update

Annual awards available: 4
Award amount: $5,000 (renewable up to 4 years)

A generous matching gift of up to $1,000,000 is helping expand this transformative opportunity. All contributions directly support BI students as they develop high‑impact innovations.
